In a crisis situation, you can contact the Emergency Psychiatric Clinic (at the University Psychiatric Clinic Ljubljana), where a rapid assessment of your mental state will be conducted and further guidance provided. You can call them at +386 1 4750 685 (between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.).
A mental distress helpline s available at night (7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.). If you are in distress or having suicidal thoughts, call +386 1 520-99-00.
- Clinical Psychology focuses on diagnosing and treating psychological problems/disorders. A referral from a general practitioner is required for a visit.
- Psychiatry focuses on working with people with more severe or diagnosed disorders. No referral is needed for scheduling an appointment. The clinic is equipped to provide assistance in Bosnian, Montenegrin, Croatian, Serbian, and English.
ZDŠ offers psychological and psychiatric support.
We recommend that you check the waiting times for the first appointment at the psychiatry or clinical psychology clinic.
Waiting times can be very long, so here are some additional resources you can turn to for psychosocial support.
The Psychosocial Counseling Service operates at the University of Ljubljana and supports students in distress who need counseling or psychological support (related to studies, interpersonal relationships, etc.). An appointment must be arranged in advance via email.
All counselors provide support in Slovenian. For international students, the following options are also available:

The Psychological Counseling Center Posvet offers support and free counseling for coping with distress. No referral or health insurance card is required; you only need to make an appointment by phone.

The Študentska svetovalnica provides support in addressing various issues or problems that students face in academic or legal-social matters. The SOS Association provides support and counseling to victims of violence. You can call the confidential and free number 080 11 55 (weekdays 12:00–22:00; Saturday, Sunday, and holidays 18:00–22:00).
Within the association, advisory and informational conversations are available about forms of assistance and your rights, social advocacy, accompaniment to institutions, and individual/group psychosocial counseling.

The purpose of the Student Tolar Foundation (Established by the Student Union of Ljubljana) is to assist students in financial distress. Students in need can receive non-repayable financial and material support as well as subsidized education. Financial assistance is also available to international students if certain conditions are met.
